Baobab’s mission to empower conscious consumers centers transparency of the impact behind products. To that end, Baobab’s impact data tracking platform, designed for consumer brands, is a tool to bolster impact claims with real data.

I worked with the founders to translate their insights into a minimum viable product by designing a cohesive, branded web platform and delivering cohesive design files for implementation. My work expedited the product development process and prepared Baobab to start fundraising.

Why aren’t more brands tracking their impact?



No map for ESG dataEnvironmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data is the standard framework for tracking impact, but navigating it without expertise is daunting.

Design Strategy


Fun-sized modulesBranches encapsulate entire pillars of impact data; modules break the section down further. Worksheets organize impact data entry at the most granular level. This approach prevents impact data management from getting out of control.




Choose Your Own Adventure

Prioritizing impact areasA business leader will select impact branches to begin tracking, then select modules within each branch. Only selected modules will be visible to the rest of the organization, with the others remaining hidden until needed.  





Catalyzing teamwork Baobab helps brands create and manage teams within their organization dedicated to specific impact branches and modules.





Worksheets


WorksheetsWorksheets are where data is manually entered. Every worksheet has a similar layout. It shows progress upon completion and aims to fill knowledge gaps while reducing cognitive load during data entry.




Data Tools


DashboardThe dashboard orients the user by giving a quick snapshot of key information, including impact metrics, data completion, upcoming tasks, and company-wide KPIs.




Data CompletionThe data completion page offers insights into worksheet completion, with a snapshot of recent progress and a detailed analysis over time. It includes a leaderboard and identifies new tracking opportunities, enabling leaders to effectively monitor data tracking initiatives.




Impact ManagerThe impact manager helps admins establish company-wide KPIs and visualize essential metrics aligned with the company's priorities.

Result

The final deliverable was an interactive mockup that encompassed all necessary interactions within the scope of the proof of concept. It included unique user journeys for admins, leaders, and owners. This allowed the founders to present the design to key stakeholders for interaction after my contract ended.
